JET LAG July 2, 2010

Sorry for the limited blogs at this time, but our internet access is limited. We boarded our flight from Montreal at 7:50pm (Eastern Time) and flew all night across the big pond. We watched the sun go down and about 1 hour later the sun rose. We landed at the Charles de Gaulle airport at about 8:30am (France time – 8 hours ahead of Mountain time) with little sleep. We zipped through customs. They did not even speak with us. The officer grabbed our passports, stamped them and we were on our way. We had no problem figuring out the subway system across Paris to the Hilton Arc de Triomphe. We were all very tired and in need of a shower but unfortunately, our room wasn’t ready. We then wondered around looking for something to eat. It is sad to say that our first meal in France was McDonald’s. The kids were tired and cranky and we could understand the menu without any difficulty so we gave in without a fight. We all wanted to go back to the hotel and sleep, but we knew that we had to say awake until regular bedtime. So, after getting back to the room for showers, we headed out to explore the city. We thought the perfect introduction to the city of Paris would be to watch the “Paris Story” movie. Four individuals + one hour in a dark cool theatre = not a good plan. Each one of us missed different parts of the movie due to short naps. We watched each others heads bob throughout the movie. We then went to a perfume museum to learn the art of perfume making. We found a great pizza place for supper. We all quietly ate our supper and headed back to the hotel and we were in bed by 8:00pm. We slept for 14 hours. I could have been sleeping on stones and would not have trouble sleeping. I was so tired. Logan and Taryn fell asleep before their heads hit the pillows. I think Logan is rethinking the idea that staying up all night is a fun thing,
